  • 1) Operating System.

    • Prior knowledge

    Students should know about ‘This PC’ icon and task manager and basics of internet.

      Exercise:1


    • What is an Operating System (OS)? Give some examples of OS. Are cell phones also computers?

      • Exercise:2


    • How does the Operating System (OS) control all the devices and applications? Open the following applications and find the CPU usage and how much memory is utilised for all these applications - Open Office, Windows Explorer, Google Chrome.

      • Exercise:3


    • What is Clipboard? Define the use of Clipboard.

    • Teacher's Instruction
    1. Teachers should mention about the open source and proprietary operating systems.
    2. Teachers should ensure that more than one application is open at the same time.
    3. Teachers should show the folders and apps available in their mobile phones and make the Students understand that mobile phones are similar to Computers.
    4. Teachers should teach how to open the ‘Task Manager’ window. (Ctrl+Alt+ Del or Ctrl+Shift+Esc or Right click on the task bar and select the ‘Task Manager’ window).
